Dotty and the Calendar House Key has truly fired my daughter's imagination for the first time since Harry Potter. Beautifully written and exciting. The Secret Garden meets Diagon Alley. Fabulous!

Adventure, Mystery and a touch of Magic

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was a nice gentle mystery with a touch of magic. It started out quite sad but Dotty became involved in an exciting adventure leading to new friends to lift her spirits. After finishing this story I was intrigued to find out how Dotty was getting on in her new home so I was delighted to see there was a second and third book continuing her adventures.

Dawn Bradman,

My nine year old twin boys were hooked in the first chapter. It has been a while since a book has had this effect and we are all (me too) looking forward to bedtime/story time now!

Jennifer Anderson,

This is a wonderful book - couldn't put it down. Truly captures the imagination - beautifully written. Can't wait for the next one and neither can my kids!

Ragan Montgomery,

A great escapist read for children - even big kids!!

This is the first book in the Dotty series, and is a great introduction to the Calendar House world. I got the books to read with my nieces but read them first (to make sure they were suitable) and enjoyed them myself too - proof you don't have to be a child to enjoy them! Well-written with characters that bring the action to life like a movie in my mind, this story is great escapism and fantasy for all ages. I'd definitely recommend it, and will be reading the rest of the series too - by myself and with my nieces!

Lola H,

Just Brilliant!

I truly recommend this amazing read. My 7 year old daughter was as fascinated by this book as was I. It takes you into wonderful adventures with so many possibilities which really grabbed her imagination. She can't wait for volume two. A magical journey through fantasy, brilliantly written with lovable characters and that Yorkshire charm.

My eight year old loved this book.

My eight year old son loved this book. We know the author, but that fact alone isn't enough to keep a child reading! He read it over three nights (and stayed up much too late on the last night to finish it!) A great read, and lovely to find a book that engages boys of this age without resorting to the usual stereotypes - we are looking forward to the next one!

Penny Uglow,

A fantastic book....

A fantastic adventure from start to finish. I read this to my daughter and we were both very absorbed. Such a lovely book!

Auntie Loula,

Kooky and fun.

A wonderfully weird and compelling story that brings together the mystical wonder of a world that is unknown to all and the search for meanings, hope as well as a new life after a tragedy. A well written book with great characters that was compelling and fun. Kept me entranced throughout. Am looking forward to reading more of the series.

Old school charm

Dotty and the Calender House Key has all the charms of the books I loved as a kid.
Although a sad beginning for Dotty after losing her parents, the book quickly turns into a fun adventure. Mrs Gobbins (or Gobby) the cook is instantly loveable, as is Great Uncle Winchester.
Dotty is a great leading lady, and together with Pip, Sylv and Geoff the dog it's a story filled with memorable characters. I can't wait to start the next one!

Original magical adventure

Bearing in mind I am a little older than the normal readers age!! I thoroughly enjoyed this excellently written, exciting story. As the series progresses I am sure we will all be waiting with baited breath to see what happens next to Dotty in her magical adventures.

When is the next one coming out?

A beautifully written book. An absorbing tale with the charm of a classic childhood adventure but set in the world of a 21st century child.
