World Book Day 2016 at Queen Mary’s School, Topcliffe

March 11, 2016

Author, Emma Warner-Reed, was pleased to be invited to spend World Book Day 2016 with the pupils of Queen Mary’s School in Topcliffe, North Yorkshire. Emma spent the day, aptly themed ‘Fairytales, Myths and Legends’, giving pupils from year 5 to 8 readings and workshops based on the story of DOTTY and the Calendar House Key. Head of English at Queen Mary’s, Dawn Coull, said, “The girls really enjoyed hearing Emma read from the opening of Dotty and the Calendar House Key and were keen to read it in order to follow Dotty's adventures in deepest Yorkshire. They are now eagerly awaiting the second instalment due in the autumn.”

Dotty and the Calendar House Key has truly fired my daughter's imagination for the first time since Harry Potter. Beautifully written and exciting. The Secret Garden meets Diagon Alley. Fabulous!
